After days of humid conditions and scattered rainfall, residents of Delhi-NCR woke up to a pleasant change on Sunday, July 13, with partly cloudy skies and a chance of light rain in the forecast. While sunshine is expected to dominate for much of the day, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted short rain spells that could offer some relief from the persistent muggy weather.
Temperatures in the capital are likely to range between a high of 36°C and a low of 26°C. However, July’s overall rainfall remains 19% below the seasonal norm—a concerning statistic, given that it is typically Delhi’s second-wettest month.
Though no major rainfall alerts have been issued for the next five to six days, the IMD’s July 12 report mentions, “Partly cloudy sky. Very light to light rain accompanied with thunderstorms/lightning,” suggesting brief rainy spells are expected in the days ahead.
Delhi Air Quality Update
On Sunday, air quality across most monitoring stations in Delhi remained in the "satisfactory" range. However, a few areas—Sonia Vihar, Mundka, Shadipur, Wazirpur, and Pusa—recorded Air Quality Index (AQI) values exceeding 100, placing them in the "moderate" category. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s overall AQI stood at 85.
