Cricketer Abhishek Sharma turned heads as he swapped the cricket pitch for the runway, making a striking debut as the show opener for designer JJ Valaya at the FDCI Hyundai India Couture Week 2025, presented in association with Reliance Brands. The event, held at the Aerocity, New Delhi, saw fashion and heritage converge in a spectacular display of craftsmanship and culture.

Marking his foray into high fashion, Abhishek Sharma wore an exquisitely detailed Nehru jacket from Valaya’s latest collection titled ‘EAST’-a tribute to nomadic royalty and Eastern cultural heritage. His runway look featured a meticulously crafted jacket rich in Oriental motifs and adorned with an array of traditional Indian embroidery techniques.

From delicate silk threadwork and Resham embroidery to zardozi with sequins, beads, and bugle beads, the jacket embodied modern regality. The signature JJ Valaya craftsmanship shone through, elevating the ensemble with a timeless aesthetic. The look was styled with a custom-printed silk kurta that matched the opulence of the jacket, creating a seamless blend of classic and contemporary.

Archana Aggarwal’s luxe jewellery completes the look

Adding to the regal appeal of Abhishek’s ensemble was a statement Jadau choker designed by renowned jewellery designer Archana Aggarwal. Crafted in 18K gold and embellished with Polki diamonds, emeralds, and rare tanzanite, the choker paid homage to traditional Indian jewellery while echoing modern-day sophistication.
