FPJ Exclusive: Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir's Threat To Mukesh Ambani Raises Alarm In Indian Security Circles

Pakistani army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir's threat to top  industrialist Mukesh Ambani is being taken seriously by the Indian security establishment. During the course of a dinner at Tampa, Florida, recently Munir made several highly controversial statements and one was about Ambani. 

He said during the recent conflict with India he authorised  a social media post with a photo of Ambani. Addressing the basically Pakistani diaspora audience he remarked "Ek tweet karwaya tha with Surah Fil and a picture of Mukesh Ambani to show them what we will do the next time."  The Koranic Surah referred to by the Pakistani army chief, who is known to be a jihadist,  talks about Allah's omnipotence and his ability to overcome any force.

Ambani’s Economic and Political Influence

Ambani, whose net worth is estimated as of 2025 to be a mind boggling USD 108.3 billion,  is by far the most successful industrialist of India who plays a critical role in the nation's economy with his vast interests in the core sector. Incidentally, Ambani was one of the few Indians invited to attend President Donald Trump's presidential inauguration in January this year. Later he met Trump at a dinner hosted at the Lusail Palace in Doha, Qatar.

The question being asked in intelligence circles is what gave Munir the confidence that he would be able to target Ambani? The answer lies in fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim's close ties with Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).

Dawood-ISI Nexus Fuels Security Concerns

In October, 2023 the FPJ had published an exclusive report stating that Dawood, who is based in Karachi, has been appointed as additional director-general of the ISI in an honorary capacity. Dawood still has a sizable network in Mumbai, Ahmedabad and the Gujarat coast. In fact, an intelligence source said Munir could be having Ambani's massive Jamnagar refinery in mind when he talked of targeting Ambani. The refinery's net worth is believed to be USD 120 billion with a crude processing capacity of over 1.25 million barrels per stream day. It is one of the refineries where Russian crude is processed and Trump has openly warned India against buying Russian oil. The refinery is only 407 kms from the Pakistan border and this is one of the prime reasons why an airforce base has been set up at Deesa in nearby Banaskantha district.

D-Company’s Coastal Network in Gujarat

At the ground level the D gang, which is known to do drug smuggling operations through Porbandar and other ports in Gujarat, has a wide network which the ISI could make use of during war. 

It may be recalled that certain disgraced policemen known to be close to D Company had planned to target Ambani's uber luxury residence Antilia in 2021. The purpose apparently was extortion. But the plot was foiled after which Ambani's security was beefed up. The industrialist and his family are provided Z plus security in India and abroad. A legal challenge to this arrangement was rejected by the Supreme Court.
