Schools In Ghaziabad To Remain Closed From July 17 To 23 For Kanwar Yatra

Ghaziabad Schools Closed: In view of the Kanwar Yatra 2025, governments in various districts have issued a notification for the temporary shutdown of schools so that students can remain safe and to tackle crowd-induced disruptions.

In Ghaziabad, all primary, upper primary, and secondary schools, as well as schools affiliated to the CBSE and ICSE boards, and institutions falling under technical education, higher education, and Madarsa/Sanskrit boards, will be shut down from July 17 to July 23, 2025. The District Magistrate of Ghaziabad made the announcement and posted the official notice on X (formerly Twitter).

Moreover, similar action has been initiated in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut and Muzaffarnagar districts, where all government and private schools and colleges will remain closed from July 16 to 23. The move has come following the expectation of heavy crowds and traffic jams as millions of Kanwariyas walk on foot with Ganga water to Shiva temples.

Officials have directed schools to switch to online learning mechanisms or institute alternative academic arrangements for the duration of closure.

Ujjain Schools to Remain Closed on Mondays

In Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain, where thousands of devotees are likely to descend on the Mahakaleshwar temple, the district administration has followed a unique calendar. All schools in Ujjain will be closed each Monday from July 14 to August 11, during the peak Yatra period. Instead, classes will be conducted on Sundays during this phase.
