Lucknow: Patients at the ESI Hospital in Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow, faced a serious health risk due to alleged medical negligence. Four admitted patients were administered expired injections, causing sudden discomfort and anxiety. Relatives, noticing their deteriorating condition, checked the injection bottles and discovered the medication had expired in November 2024, despite being manufactured in December 2021.
This discovery led to an uproar from angry family members within the hospital, which police later helped to quell. In one instance, a son reported his mother, admitted for stomach pain, was given an expired Ciflox injection via an IV.
Another patient's brother stated that paramedics administered expired medication intravenously, and when confronted, a doctor reportedly dismissed concerns, claiming expired medicine caused no harm.
