Angie Bowie's reaction to discovering her ex-husband David had died was "dramatic", according to a co-star. American model and journalist Angie, 75, appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in January 2016, finishing in 12th place.
But during her stint in the house, just five days after entering, she was told off-screen that her ex-husband, David Bowie, had died. Despite the scenes of Angie being informed not airing on screens, Big Brother aired her reaction moments later. She said: "I haven't seen him in so many years, I can't make a big drama out of it. It just feels like an era has ended with his passing."
Shortly after being told the news, Angie sparked concern in the house. After walking into the main house, she said to Tiffany Pollard, "David's dead," leading to the US reality star going into a meltdown, assuming fellow housemate David Gest had died—sparking outrage from the housemates.

However, Angie later confirmed: "David? My ex-husband, David!" Now, Danniella Westbrook, who also appeared on the show, has spoken of Angie's reaction to the news, which sent shockwaves across the globe.
Angie decided to remain in the house but left nine days after David's death, on medical grounds. "Because we had no contact with the outside world, it was so confusing," Danniella told the Daily Star.
She went on to add: "If someone said to me, your ex-husband is dead, I'd have thrown a party! Especially if they had tried taking my kid off me and stuff like her ex-husband did. I mean, you know, I love David Bowie, but I didn't understand where Angie was coming from. It was a bit dramatic."
However, David didn't take his and Angie's son, Duncan, from the star. After Angie and David divorced in February 1980, the late singer was granted custody of a then eight-year-old Duncan, who was known as Zowie Bowie.
He spent school holidays with Angie, until they stopped having contact. Speaking in 2016 she said: "I knew I had to save David - and by giving him our son, he had a reason to live. In 2010, Angie said that any reconciliation with her estranged son was unlikely, as she hadn't seen him since he was 13.
However, he had been in brief contact with Angie's daughter, Stasha, in the early 2000s. She said: "He emailed me and I didn't know what to say. So I put them together. They corresponded for a bit, and then that stopped. He is cold, like his father. David cut me off. Zowie, or Duncan, cut me and Stasha off."
But in 2017, despite Duncan's dad dying the year before, she told The Times that she hadn't been in contact with her son, saying: "My son? No, why should I be? I'm not interested. It stopped when my father changed his will to not include an educational trust fund for Zowie because David divorced me. When my father did that, I followed precedent. It's over. Nothing. Nothing to do with me."
Angie and David first met when she was just 19, and she married him a year later in 1970. At the time of his death, she hadn't seen her ex-husband in four decades.
