Love Island's Whitney responds to ex Lochan's lawsuit as she exposes WhatsApp messages

Love Island star Whitney Adebayo revealed her ex-boyfriend Lochan Nowacki's text messages after it was confirmed he filed a lawsuit against her over "defamatory comments made about his family". The two have been clashing online after she claimed he used 'racial slurs' during their relationship.

Whitney, who met Lochan on Love Island in 2023, previously shared a picture of herself wearing a bikini on a beach in Barbados. She wrote as she joined a TikTok trend of sharing relationship experiences: "'You look happier," before adding: "Thanks! I finally fell in love with my skin he used to call dirty."

More accusations came to light as her sister Liz shared a screenshot of an alleged WhatsApp conversation with Lochan. He later took to social media to post a video sharing his version of what happened.

Not long after, Whitney hit back with her own video detailing what he said to her. She also made claims that his mum joked "Where's Whit gone?" when the lights went out and reportedly added: "Whit, smile."

Last week, it was revealed he decided to take legal action against Whitney. He later took to his Instagram to confirm the reports and wrote: "A series of posts have been released making defamatory comments about my family, friends and I. I never wanted things to reach this stage, and I did try to take this situation through to resolution. I felt I was left with no other choice but to take this course of action.

"Taking this step was not about taking anything from Whitney, it's about protection, it's about clearing the serious reputational damage that has been caused to me and my family. For the avoidance of doubt, I categorically deny and refute the information that has been spread about my family and myself online.

"I have no desire to prolong this situation. More than anything, I want to close this down and for us both to move forward separately."

Whitney responded to Lochan's lawsuit with text message screenshots shared on her page. She wrote over a WhatsApp message reportedly from Lochan to her sister, where he begged her to 'speak to Whit' after he 'f**ked up' with the 'dirty skin' comment.

"If you can apologise privately, you can apologise publicly," she wrote over the messages shared to her Stories.

She also claimed he called her 'Sofia', a Black character from the novel, The Color Purple, who is forced to work for a white mayor and his wife as a form of imprisonment.

Over a screenshot of a fan comment slamming Lochan, Whitney posted: "Calling me Sofia (a slave), but I guess that was a joke too. Why can't you tell the world how funny you are now? @lochan_nowacki."

"I will never be bullied/intimidated into silence by retracting ignorant statements made by you," Whitney wrote in another Story.

Lochan, who denies the racism allegations, soon shared messages between him and Whitney where he asked her to delete posts she made online, which he thought might make fans believe he was being racist.

He claimed he never called Whitney 'Sofia' and that he never said anything to her that "related to slavery or racial inferiority" as he accused her of 'twisting the truth'.

Whitney returned to her page to share more context. In one WhatsApp screenshot, Lochan allegedly wrote: "Actually annoying how you don't see that was dumb. It was 10 out of 100." Whitney wrote over the screenshot: "No, I was dumb and blindly in love. You were clearly clued up and I wasn't Private jokes now public and now it's a problem? One face for me and another for the public."

She concluded her retorts with one final message. "Racial ignorance is at an all time high. You're not a black woman so you can never tell me how to feel when you make 'these jokes'. 1 year, 2 year, even 10 years later, I will always be within my right to tell my story.

"Instead of recognising how these comments made me feel, especially now being outside of the love bubble, you still chose to disregard my story. Your actions have shown it was never love, it was about reputation and money. Charge it to the game."
