Man Utd bosses left Barcelona stunned before agreeing Marcus Rashford transfer

Barcelona bosses believe they have struck a 'bargain deal' to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United. And the Spanish giants reckon Rashford's value will skyrocket again once he establishes himself at the Camp Nou.

Rashford has joined Barca on-loan from United until the end of the season. And in return for funding all of the forward's £300,000-a-week wages, United have agreed to let Barca make the deal permanent next summer for £26m.

Barca president Joan Laporta is said to have been stunned his United counterparts were willing to agree such a low fee, before seeing how the England star even settled in Spain.

A Barca source said: "At the top of his game, Marcus Rashford is one of the best players in Europe. Barca have got themselves a genuine bargain. Marcus should be worth more than £60m in the current market."

Rashford has been named in Thomas Tuchel's latest England squad for the upcoming games against Wales and Latvia.

He has enjoyed a bright start to life with his new club, registering five assists and two goals with his stunning brace at Newcastle the highlight of his season so far.

The England international was dropped by Hansi Flick last month after arriving at training two minutes late. But the German head coach has still been happy to sing his praises for how quickly he has adapted.

"Everyone could see it in the last games," Flick said via Marca earlier this week. "In Newcastle [scoring two goals] he gained a lot of confidence. It's not always easy, he came from another league. He is adapting well."

Rashford's importance at Barcelona has quickly grown after injuries to Lamine Yamal and Raphinha opened the door to more minutes. He has grabbed that opportunity with both hands, registering a goal contribution in each of his last six matches.

And that form has also helped to win over his team-mates, with Sport reporting that there were some doubts over his signing due to the negative end to his time at Old Trafford.

Those doubts have now been quickly erased, with his position as one of Barcelona's most important players established.
