The traders of the capital claim that due to the action on old vehicles, their prices have come down by up to 50 percent.
Chamber of Trade and Industry chairman and automobile businessman Brijesh Goyal said on Friday that the campaign has had a direct impact on about 60 lakh vehicles. This has led to a huge decline in the car trade.
Their prices have come down rapidly. In five days, the prices of old cars have come down by 40 to 50 percent. There is a state of chaos at petrol pumps due to the action on vehicles that have crossed the age limit. Old cars go from Delhi to Punjab, Rajasthan, UP, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, and other states.
More than a thousand traders buy and sell old cars in Karol Bagh, Preet Vihar, Pitampura, Moti Nagar, and other areas. These traders say that the car, which used to be sold for Rs 6-7 lakh earlier, is now getting a price of only Rs 3 to 4 lakh.
Car dealers allege that they used to get NOC from the Transport Department easily when they sold vehicles running in Delhi to other states after their expiry date, but now they are facing problems.
BJP had decided to remove old vehicles: AAP
New Delhi. AAP has targeted the BJP in the matter of removing old vehicles from the roads. It is alleged that the government is making an excuse for the court order.
On Friday, state president Saurabh Bhardwaj said that as soon as the government was formed in Delhi, the BJP had decided to ban old vehicles. They took oath in February, and on March 1, Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced that old vehicles will not get fuel after March 31.
However, it was implemented on July 1. BJP had already colluded with automobile companies and issued an order to benefit them by crores of rupees, so that 61 lakh people of Delhi are forced to buy new vehicles.
Due to the unity of Delhiites, the BJP government had to bow down. AAP, playing the role of a responsible opposition, continuously opposed this order.
