Foods should not be eaten in Sawan fast : The month of Sawan is very dear to Lord Shiva. In this month, people keep fast on Mondays, worship Lord Shiva and pray to Bholenath to fulfill their wishes. This fast is associated with faith, purity and restraint. But sometimes we accidentally eat some things which should not be eaten during fasting. If you are keeping a fast on Sawan Monday, then you must abstain from certain things. Let us know which things should not be eaten during the fast.
Do not consume these things even by mistake in Sawan- 1. Plain salt - (Salt)Common salt is not consumed during the Sawan Monday fast. Instead, rock salt can be used which is natural and is also considered holy during the fast. Therefore, special care should be taken while preparing dishes.

2. Garlic-Onion- (Onion Garlic)Garlic and onion are not included in the fasting food because they are considered tamasic.
3. Meat and Egg-Only pure and satvik food should be eaten during the fast of Sawan Monday. Things like meat, fish, eggs should not be eaten during the month of Sawan. Stay away from these things completely during the fast.
4. Cereals like wheat and riceOrdinary flour or rice is not used during the fast. Instead, you can eat water chestnut flour, buckwheat flour, rajgira or sago. These grains are suitable for fasting and also keep the body light.
5. Fried and packaged food-Fasting is done to detox the body and calm the mind. Oil-fried food, packaged snacks or biscuits may contain hidden salt, garlic-onion or preservatives which can make the fast impure. Therefore, only home-cooked, light and fast-friendly food should be consumed.
