Channel 4 Can't Sell Must Sell star in tears over 'neglected' house transformation

Send Push

A homeowner was reduced to tears after seeing the transformation of her home on Can't Sell, Must Sell. During the latest Channel 4 episode, Stuart and Scarlette Douglas were in West Sussex to take on a polka-dot property that potential buyers weren't interested in. Tracy's unsellable house was not market-ready, and after battling throat cancer twice, she is desperate to start a new chapter in her life. Her home was in need of a facelift, especially the clashing colour schemes, the front polka-dot appearance, and the broken chest of drawers. It was up to Scarlette and Stuart to use their creative expertise to sell her property and make it market-ready quickly, and on a budget.

Tracy listed the house seven months ago and reduced the price to £330,000, but failed to get any viewings. She emphasised that her worst fear was "dying before she could sell the house," and didn't understand why people weren't viewing it.

Local property enthusiasts who came to view the house said that the outside appearance "looked like a toadstool" and that it felt "musky and dirty" and "neglected" on the inside.

In two days and with £3,000, Stuart completely transformed Tracy's home and tackled the issues that were putting off potential buyers. As usual, the team also shared insider tips to help all homeowners navigate the market and sell their property fast.

When Tracy saw the transformation, she was reduced to tears and couldn't thank Stuart and Scarlette enough for their efforts. She expressed that she's had the worst two years of her life after battling throat cancer.

Tracy said, fighting back tears, "I can get on with my next chapter, and that means so much to me. I know I am going to sell this, and I can start planning all the things I want to do. And that's such a big thing for me. Thank you so much for everything you've done." At the end of the episode, it was revealed that two months later, Tracy was very hopeful of selling her home.

During last week's episode, presenter Scarlette was under immense pressure to help a couple transform their house for sale, after the husband said: "I don't think we're going to last much longer if we can't sell."

Episode one featured a couple, Sarah and Alan, and their cluttered two-bedroom cottage, which was in dire need of a makeover. After being on the market for a year, the pair asked Stuart and Scarlette for their help.

After having three viewings and no offers, the duo were desperate and shared that it had affected their relationship. Alan said: "We are arguing more than ever. Personally, I don't think we're going to last much longer if we can't sell it."

Sarah continued: "Our dream is to sell the house and we can buy a nice house perhaps overlooking the sea instead of being here and being miserable, because we are, aren't we?"

Thankfully, when the episode ended, it was revealed that the cottage had already had two viewings following its transformation.
