CNN issued a breaking news announcement in a humiliating blow for Donald Trump. The US President, who has previously denied that he is considering a third presidential term, a move which experts agree is banned under the US Constitution, may see a political opponent run for president in 2028. CNN Senior Data Analyst Harry Enten dropped a new polling that showed Gavin Newsom surging with voters hoping the California Governor will run for president.
Californian Democrats are now urging for him to put himself forward as a candidate in the next two years. Harry stated: "In 2023, just 35% of them wanted him to run for president. Look at the percentage now who are excited for a run for president." He pointed to the screen which showed 75% of voters are excited for him to run. Harry continued: "That's a 40 point climb. A rising tide of support for Gavin Newsom. Remember back in 2023, the majority of Democrats did not want Joe Biden to run for another term. But Californian Democrats in Gavin Newsom's home state did not want him to run either and now 75% are excited for him to run."
He continued: "More than that he is getting a higher percentage of the vote than Kamala Harris in her home state.
"He is beating the former vice president, who of course, was the Democrat nominee in 2024."
Harry went on to say on a national level he is the frontrunner of being the 2028 nominee for the Democrat party.
It comes as Trump and Newsom have continued to goad one another in an ongoing war of words on social media.
Newsom and his office have mocked and mimicked Trump online, and swiped at some of the Republican president's biggest MAGA supporters on social media.
Trump finally lashed out at California Governor Gavin Newsom after days of trolling on social media by the Democrat.
"Gavin Newscum is way down in the polls," Trump posted to his Truth Social platform late on Wednesday evening, August 20. "He is viewed as the man who is destroying the once Great State of California. I will save California!!!"
