Fans have spotted the subtle way Meghan Markle turned businesswoman Emma Grede's special evening into a subtle self-promotion opportunity. The Duchess of Sussex attended a star-studded dinner in Los Angeles hosted by the entrepreneur.
'A Seat At The Table' was the dinner event held at designer Kelly Wearstler's home, with a meal prepared by plant-based chef Camilla Marcus. However, fans have noted how Meghan Markle put her stamp on the event by supplying the wine for the event courtesy of her brand, As Ever.
Meghan also posted a story on her brand's Instagram with the title: "'Seat at the Table' event with our As ever Sauvignon Blanc". The video showed a group of women toasting to the event with beverages and a gorgeous dinner table set up.
Taking note of the product appearance, one user on X claimed: "#MeghanMarkle scored a seat next to the host. I wonder if it's because she provided all of the #AsEver wine they could drink?"
Another X user asked: "Did Meghan persuade Emma to use her wine for the dinner?"
A third commented: "Is anyone else fed up with InStyle turning Markle's every public appearance into a glorified ad for her wardrobe and wine brand?"
One fan, however, was thrilled Meghan had support from Emma. They wrote: "At Emma Grede's A Seat at the Table dinner, she spoke about many things including how men open doors for one another in rooms we can't always see. Meghan really walks that talk: her brand As Ever supplied the wine, she's invested in women founders from Kadi Lee to Clevr Blend."
"Our first Sauvignon Blanc is bright and balanced, with citrus aromatics, a smooth finish, and refreshing versatility," an official description of the wine said on Meghan's website.
"Crafted for everyday dinners and celebratory gatherings alike, this thoughtfully made wine is perfect for sharing, gifting, and savoring in every season."
Meghan launched As Ever's first alcoholic offering with the 2023 Napa Valley Rosé on July 1.
While the Sauvignon Blanc's drop was a surprise, a previous statement from As ever said the brand would expand into more wines. It was announced over the summer that a Méthode Champenoise Napa Valley sparkling wine was in the works for the near future.
Speaking of the dinner, Emma Grede said: "In a city built on big dreams and even bigger ambition, one truth remains, success is never built alone.
"For too long, we've watched how men in business have mastered this: making deals over dinner, sharing opportunities over a game, and opening doors for one another in rooms we can't always see."
Guests included Rachel Zoe, Bozoma Saint John, Maria Sharapova, Nicole Avant, Chriselle Lim, and Danessa Myricks. For the dinner, Meghan Markle opted to wear a beige two-piece suit paired with a plain white top.
Emma, meanwhile, dazzled in a mustard silky top with a pencil skirt to match. She wore fashionable green pointed kitten heels to set off her glamorous outfit.
