Homebase is making a huge change in more than 200 of its garden centres inside The Range superstores from November.
The DIY and garden retailer, which has opened over 200 'Garden Centres by Homebase' inside The Range stores this year after collapsing into administration at the end of 2024, has confirmed it will be stocking real Christmas trees just in time for the festive season. Customers who previously relied on Homebase to deck their halls with a real tree each Christmas can now continue to do so as the retailer will receive brand new stock from mid-November to December. Homebase collapsed into administration in November 2024 blaming a decline in consumer confidence and spending post-pandemic, but later struck a deal with retail group CDS, which owns The Range, which saved some stores.
CDS snapped up 70 Homebase branches as part of the deal, saving around 1,600 jobs, while rival DIY chain B&Q took control of five branches and a further four have been transformed into Wickes.
Homebase has since opened Garden Centres by Homebase stores in more than 200 The Range stores nationwide, giving shoppers plenty of options to pick out their Christmas tree this year.
The retailer said shoppers will soon have three different real Christmas tree varieties to choose from, including Norman Fir Fir, Fraser Fir and Noble Fir as part of its brand new range for 2025.
Announcing the news on Facebook, Homebase said in a post: "Christmas is SAVED! While the headlines talk tree shortages, we're here to spread festive cheer with a fresh batch of beautiful real trees - arriving from mid-November through to December, just in time to deck your halls. Here's what's landing soon:
- Nordman Fir - soft needles and excellent needle retention
- Fraser Fir - compact shape and fresh scent (perfect for smaller spaces)
- Noble Fir (ROI only) - blue-green foliage and sturdy branches for all your sparkly ornaments
"Plus, discover stands and accessories to keep your tree looking merry and bright all season long. You'll now find Garden Centres by Homebase at The Range superstores nationwide - bringing 45+ years of gardening know-how and festive favourites all under one roof."
Homebase said its real Christmas trees are all premium grade and sustainably homegrown in the UK, and have been hand selected for superior shape, colour and festive scent. The retailer adds that its Christmas tree varieties "are grown to last longer".
Customers can find their nearest local Garden Centre by Homebase store inside The Range online using the store locator tool.
