Keir Starmer was dealt a devastating blow as GB News debated the escalating migrant crisis in the UK. It comes after Ethiopian national Hadush Kebatu's escape from prison just weeks after he was jailed for sexually assaulting a schoolgirl in Essex. He was being sent to an immigration detention centre from HMP Chelmsford before his deportation on Friday, but managed to get on a train to London, and is now "at large".As presenter Charlie Leo led the conversation about Starmer's failings to quell the record-breaking number of migrants crossing the English channel into Britain illegally, it didn't take long for Starmer to be called out.
Washington Correspondent at The Telegraph Connor Stringer criticised Starmer for not ensuring illegal migrants are being deported as he urged him to "take a leaf out of Starmer's book."
He said: "That's the issue here, that these individuals are coming into the country, illegally or otherwise, committing horrendous crimes that they are essentially not being deported for.
"This is what we had been seeing across the country in the US, there are countless examples of rapists, child molesters, murderers who have been allowed into the country, committed heinous acts and then been allowed to stay.
"This one in one out policy absolutely beggars belief. I don't know how that is going to fix the removal of the amount of illegal immigrants we have in Britain, and that is the kind of policy that needs to be reworked," as he added: "Hopefully Starmer will take a leaf out of Donald Trump's book."
Starmer has also faced backlash as one of the migrants who was returned back to France as part of the one in one out deal after coming into Britain illegally, quickly returned on a small boat.
The Daily Express understands he is an Iranian national who first reached the UK on August 6. He was removed on September 19 and boarded a small boat again on October 18.
Home Office sources say the man is being held in an immigration detention centre and officials will try to "expedite" his deportation.
