When it comes to cleaning the house, often the kitchen is the most difficult room to tackle. This is the home of food prep, and because of this, it can get pretty messy due to oil and grease stains lingering around. One area which is a real nightmare to keep clean is cabinets or cupboards, which just always seem to be covered in fingerprints no matter how much you wipe them down.
But according to one cleaning expert on social media, all you need to keep them sparkling is one thing you've probably already got in the cupboard. TikToker @neals_k has been raving about washing up liquid and how it can help to keep your kitchen looking as good as new.
She says that if you want to keep your kitchen cabinets looking spotless for longer, all you need is a simple bottle of washing up liquid. This costs as little as 64p from Asda right now, so it's the perfect affordable trick if you're trying to save money.
How to keep kitchen cabinets cleanIf you are sick and tired of constantly wiping grease and fingerprints off your kitchen cabinets, then one of Neal's recent TikTok tips is worth trying out.
She shared five simple tips that have helped her maintain a clean kitchen, with the washing up liquid tip coming out on top.
She said: "For kitchen cabinets that are usually full of grease and fingerprints, grab a bowl, some water, washing up liquid and two clean microfibre cloths. One for cleaning and one for drying."
Fill the bowl with a few drops of dish soap and top it up with warm water, then dip in one of the cloths and wring it out so it's still damp but not soaking wet.
Then, starting from the top, begin to wipe down your kitchen cabinets.
Use circular motions to dislodge any tougher grease or fingerprint stains, slowly working your way down until you've reached the bottom, and repeat this process on all of your kitchen cabinets.
Depending on the finish, you can also use this trick on drawers. Then, once you've cleaned everything, use the other microfibre cloth to go over the surfaces again and dry them off so that they look shining once again.
Highlighting how good the tip is, Neal added: "I find that this method doesn't give me the dreaded swirl."
