Royal Family LIVE: Prince Harry and King Charles reunion at risk over 1 major problem

The potential reunion between Prince Harry and King Charles in September could hit a major snag, according to a royal expert. The Duke of Sussex returns to UK shores for the WellChild Awards next month, but his rare trip home will coincide with the third anniversary of the death of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8, 2022 at the age of 96, and the funeral took place on September 19. The United Kingdom observed a national mourning period of 10 days.

Former BBC royal correspondent, Jennie Bond, thinks it's possible Charles will be out of the country to mark the tragic date. She told the Mirror: "We have all become quite used to Harry coming and going without seeing his family. His visits are generally extremely brief, and the King is usually up in Scotland for the anniversary of his mother's death. So arranging a meeting may not be straightforward."

Prince Harry's new aides and one of King Charles' key staffers met for the first time in July, opening up channels of communication. The meeting was viewed by some insiders as an olive branch that could pave the way for better relations.

Jennie speculated whether Harry would see other members of his wider family while in the UK: "Harry may well see some of his cousins - such as Eugenie or Beatrice - but I don't think there's any likelihood of a meeting with William or Catherine. The rift between the brothers remains too deep, and William has far too much going on in his life to worry about the Harry problem."
