A terrifying new giant rollercoaster is set to take thrill-seekers by storm when it opens next year, by breaking a staggering six World Records. The US theme park Six Flags Over Texas, in Arlington, Texas, has unveiled its "adrenaline-pumping" Tormenta Rampaging Run rollercoaster.
The ride is inspired by Spain's running of the bulls tradition and Six Flags said it will be the tallest, fastest, longest and first-ever 'giga' dive coaster in the world. Tormenta Rampaging Run will elevate riders to a height of 309ft and, just like waiting for the release of the bulls, your heart will pound as you wait for the inevitable.
Without warning, the train releases, and it drops riders a record 285ft at a beyond vertical 95 degrees as they warn: "It's not straight down, it's on the other side of straight down!"
Mark Boyer, vice president and park manager for Six Flags Over Texas, said: "Six Flags Over Texas has always been a leader in creating unforgettable experiences, and with Tormenta Rampaging Run we are soaring to new heights.
"This coaster is a true testament to our commitment to providing world-class thrills and innovation, and we can't wait to bring this historic ride to life in 2026."
A 'giga' rollercoaster is any ride between 300 and 399 feet in height, according to Coasterpedia.
When the Tormenta opens next year, Six Flags said it will break the following six world records:
Tallest diver coaster in height: Tormenta 309 feet - Current leader: 245 feet at Yukon Striker at Canada's Wonderland.
Fastest dive coaster in speed: Tormenta 87 mph - Current leader: 80 mph at Yukon Striker.
Longest dive coaster in length: Tormenta 4,199 feet - Current leader: 3,625 feet at Yukon Striker.
Tallest vertical coaster loop: Tormenta 179 feet - Current leader: 160 feet at Flash at Lewa Adventure in China.
Highest Immelmann Inversion (a diving loop): Tormenta 218 feet - Current leader: 197 feet at Steel Curtain at Kennywood in Pennsylvania.
Highest 95-Degree Beyond Vertical Drop: Tormenta 285 feet - Current leader: 100 feet at Maverick at Cedar Point in Ohio.
In addition to the new coaster, Six Flags said a new Spanish village called Rancho de la Tormenta and new restaurant called Cocina Abuela will also be built in the park's Spain area.
The theme park explains: "We're taking history by the horns with six world records!
"The defining thrill of 2026 will be at Six Flags Over Texas with the opening of Tormenta Rampaging Run - the tallest, fastest, longest, first-and only giga dive coaster in the world!
"This one-of-a-kind thrill can only be found in our new Spanish village, Rancho de la Tormenta.
"As riders ascend to the lift hill's peak, they are filled with a sense of anticipation before plunging into a record-breaking 95 degree beyond vertical drop, complete with sharp turns and other exhilarating drops that replicate the thrill of the Running of the Bulls.
"Can you handle the Texas-sized adrenaline? Prepare for the awesome power of Tormenta Rampaging Run!"
