Candace Owens has floated a sensational theory suggesting that Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk, went to a Dairy Queen just minutes after the fatal shooting.
Owens, who has been publicly questioning the official account, shared an image she said was repeatedly sent to her tip line. “It is a very clear image of Tyler Robinson allegedly taken. I’ll say allegedly for safety here, but it’s looking right. According to my timeline, allegedly taken at 6:38pm at a nearby Dairy Queen,” she told viewers.
Owens pointed out what she viewed as inconsistencies. “First and foremost, 6:38pm you just shot someone. You have gone through great pains to hide your face to change your outfit. But wait, you didn’t fully change your outfit, did you? I’m looking at this photo and you’re wearing jeans and you’re wearing the maroon shirt. Now we have a 50/50 combo of the outfits.”
She said the fast-food restaurant is roughly a 17-minute drive from Utah Valley University, where Kirk was shot on 10 September. “Something problematic is the location. By the way we mapped this out. It’s about 15 minutes away from the campus at a time when we’re told that he’s idling by babysitting the rifle. So you can see we’re showing you it’s about 17 minute drive away from the campus,” she said.
Owens described the suspect’s demeanour in the image as striking. “The biggest thing that jumps at me is he looks kind of content there. So he’s got to be a full-blown psychopath wearing half of what the feds told us he was wearing in the morning and half of what the feds told us that he was wearing during the shooting.”
For Owens, the unanswered question remains what Robinson was allegedly doing 17 minutes later. “You don’t seem to be too shaken or too upset,” she remarked. “Next thing you know, you shoot someone and you’re like, I’m just going to go have a meal.”
Robinson has been charged with capital murder and prosecutors have confirmed they will seek the death penalty. Investigators say DNA on the trigger of the rifle matched Robinson, and that he confessed in a message to his partner: “I am, I’m sorry.” A note recovered from his apartment declared: “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.”
The 31-year-old Kirk, a close ally of President Donald Trump and head of Turning Point USA, was shot while taking a student’s question. Authorities have not disclosed a definitive motive, but Robinson’s messages suggested resentment of Kirk’s views, including on transgender issues.
Students returned to Utah Valley University this week, gathering around the barricaded courtyard where Kirk was gunned down. Governor Spencer Cox told them that anger was natural but “what you do with that anger, that’s what determines where we go from here.”
