A viral showing London’s public infrastructure stained red with Paan spittle has sparked a flurry of reactions online and reignited the debate on UK’s immigration problem.
The clip shared on X by @harrowonline zooms into dustbins, roads and tree trunks turned red, stretching from Rayners Lane to North Harrow. The video caption calls it out as “Paan spitting is becoming a big problem in Harrow.”
Netizens called out the problem as part of "unwanted landscape", drawing attention to immigrant communities in London.
While many called for stricter fines and public awareness campaigns, others pointed fingers at the Indian and South Asian diaspora. “This is what uncontrolled immigration gets you,” one user posted. Another added, “You can take people out of India, but can’t take India out of them.”
However, this backlash also sparked fierce defence. “Cultural practices don’t equal criminal intent. Educate, don’t vilify,” countered another user, calling out the rising racial tone of the debate.
